We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We believe that we are sons and daughters of a Heavenly Father and that we are all brothers and sisters. Some people know us as Mormons. Young Men, 18 years of age and older and Young Women, 19 years of age and older, have an opportunity to serve as full time missionaries in different places throughout the world. The funds for the mission come from the missionary, the family and sometimes from the church. They will not see their family for two years, but may write emails and/or letters during this time. They will speak to their families only twice during the year, Mother’s Day and on Christmas Day. They will leave behind all their possessions, their jobs, their schooling for a chance of a lifetime. They will serve for 24 months, but make a lifetime of memories.
Families are precious to us and this is where we can make the most difference in the world.
Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed.
We also believe that we serve our Savior when we reach out and serve our fellow man. For this reason, Brenden has chosen to leave behind his family and his schooling to spend two years serving the people of Brazil.
